What is the message of the natural world and what is it telling us at this time of urgency? The wisdom of Indigenous peoples is being sought to lead us into an alternate future where we can use the best of traditional wisdom to rebuild authentic communities and initiate healing on individual and collective levels.

Join us for an extraordinary evening and a rare opportunity to learn from two remarkable visionaries who have spent their lives as students of the natural world.

LES STROUD (Survivorman) is an award winning filmmaker, outdoor adventurer, singer-songwriter and performer. Best known as star of the six-time Gemini nominated hit TV series Survivorman (OLN Canada, The Science Channel US, Discovery Channel International, City TV (Rogers). Les continues to forge new pathways as a prolific, creative force. In Les' recent project; 'Beyond Survivor' he seeks out the true masters of survival - indigenous communities in the most remote corners of the planet - to learn their techniques, experience their rituals, and share the secrets of how they have survived in the wild for thousands of years.

After years of surviving alone, going without food and sleeping on rocks, it was time to start the next chapter of my survival journey by learning from the few remaining indigenous peoples around the world. These tribes have truly mastered survival in some of the harshest conditions on the planet. Once you have secured the survival of your body, you still have to ensure the survival of your mind and spirit".

DAVE COURCHENE (Nii Gaani Aki Innini - Leading Earth Man), Anishnabe spiritual leader, has travelled internationally, carrying a message of hope and peace, and sharing ancient Indigenous knowledge that he believes can act as the foundation in supporting a new way of living that honours the earth, community, and the sacredness of all life. He has created a special place for sharing ancient Indigenous knowledge - The Turtle Lodge - which was inspired by a vision that Dave received many years ago during a vision quest. Indigenous peoples have always relied on visions and dreams to give guidance and direction in life, and Dave is commited to sharing these ceremonies with our young men and women. 

"What it takes is the time and effort of any human being to be able to sit down on Mother Earth and learn to read the laws that we are to abide by if we are to have a happy life. All the laws of Mother Earth are based on respect, love, kindness and sharing. They are all positive - they teach us that we are all connected".

VISION QUEST & MAKOOSE KA WIN

The Vision Quest & Makoose Ka Win project is a First Nation initiative that re-introduces the traditional rites of passage for women and men (www.theturtlelodge.org/visionquest.html).

The Makoose Ka Win and Vision Quest are important projects which enable young people to transform the way they live, relate to others and care for our home, the sacred Earth.
